- Certified Expertise: Maureen is board certified in infection control (CIC), demonstrating her mastery in this field.
- Pioneering Work: As one of the early pioneers in infection control, she received the APIC National Carole DeMille Award in 1990. Her dedication to infection prevention has been recognized globally.
- Leadership and Innovation:
- MRSA and Staph aureus Elimination Program: In 2006, Maureen established a successful program at New England Baptist, an Orthopedic Center of Excellence, aimed at eliminating MRSA and Staph aureus infections.
- Surgical Stewardship: She developed the “7 S Bundle”, a surgical stewardship program, which she has presented at national and international conferences. This program focuses on preventing surgical site infections.

- Maureen has held various positions, including Director, Clinical Education and Implementation at Accelerate Diagnostics, Corporate Director, Infection Prevention for Universal Health Services, Infection Control Director at New England Baptist Hospital, Boston, MA and Director of the Infection Control Unit at Mass General Hospital from 1985-1996 and a few other IP positions in the Boston area.
